description:

Sanja Fališevac's sculpture "Bruise" is made of baked clay (Italian Terracotta), it is reddish in color. It is a figurative sculpture that represents a portrait of a sleeping girl. The author transfers her feelings and tactile image with her fingers to the clay and with her tactile touch creates an image that she cannot see herself. The work shows how good the author is as a portraitist. The head of a sleeping girl is depicted, with a calm facial expression, smoothed surfaces, without traces of tools or finger touches, while the hair is stylized and has slightly wavy surfaces. The work was obviously created according to a living model and represents a non-idealized portrait. The author very successfully depicted the characteristics of the physiognomy of a real person whom she got to know by touch and transferred into clay: a somewhat more pronounced nose, the shape and expression of the lips, and the unequal arches of the eyebrows.
